ABOUT ICA

The Ilwaco Charter Association has been in existence for over forty years and has sponsored a salmon derby for over twenty five years. The association is a 501 C3 incorporated in the State of Washington. 

The annual Ilwaco Charter Association salmon derby takes place at the Port of Ilwaco. 

The association was organized to promote the welfare and continuance of the salmon industry and support all movements directed at saving and propagating pacific salmon.

The derby runs from the beginning of salmon season, early summer until Labor Day. Over 45,000 fishers participate in the season with 35,000 traveling more than 50 miles to fish, 40,000 paying for overnight lodging and another 15,000 use nonpaid overnight lodging. In addition to the numerous economic benefits to our local economy, Salmon fishing derbies have been a part of our local culture and history since the 1940’s.
